【摘要】:Stress-opticalcoefficientsareusedinthedeterminationofstressinglass.Theyareparticularlyusefulindeterminingthemagnitudeofthermalresidualstressesforannealingorpre-stressing(tempering)glass.Assuch,theycanbeimportantinspecificationacceptance.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresfordeterminingthestress-opticalcoefficientofglass,whichisusedinphotoelasticanalyses.InProcedureAtheopticalretardationisdeterminedforaglassfibersubjectedtouniaxialtension.InProcedureBtheopticalretardationisdeterminedforabeamofglassofrectangularcrosssectionwhensubjectedtofour-pointbending.InProcedureC,theopticalretardationismeasuredforabeamofglassofrectangularcross-sectionwhensubjectedtouniaxialcompression.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
